Strong stomach needed

September was a pretty wild month for stocks and crypto with significant drawdowns in the US markets. Crypto saw a significant bubble burst as well.

Consequently, my overall portfolio value fell to $468,770. Losses were largely contributed by the crypto portfolio, with the traditional portfolio providing a small bump to portfolio value.

Reality Check

I mentioned last month that crypto was super volatile and I may be brought back down to Earth. It was precisely what happened.

Should I have sold and bought back lower? Perhaps. Would I have been able to do it back then? Probably not.

I’m targeting a 1 year timeframe for my crypto portfolio to show significant returns. So I’m not particularly worried.

I see a bifurcation in drawdowns between blue chip crypto / DeFi and new / experimental tokens. Thankfully I didn’t go ham into those new experimental tokens and as such am quite happy with my portfolio results in the past month, in spite of the huge paper “losses” compared to last month.

Not doing much with my crypto, just shifting my assets around to earn the best yield. My traditional portfolio is just farming dividends per normal. Boring stuff.

Thoughts on the FCT preferential offering

One active decision I’ll have to make this month is on the FCT preferential offering. I’ve a decent position in FCT so I’ll be entitled to some preferential units. I’ve pretty much decided on what I want to do for the PO so I’ll share it for your consideration.

Fundamentally, I think the deal is yield accretive even without subscribing to the units. As such, there is no pressure to subscribe to the new units. The only question is whether you think the PO price of $2.34 is attractive or not as well as what the market price of FCT is at the moment.

At $2.34, I personally don’t feel that it’s a particularly attractive price, at best it’s fair value. As such, its a question of whether its a arbitrage play or not.

Given the convergence of the FCT market price to the PO price of $2.34, there is no arbitrage opportunity to be found.

As such, I’ll probably be sitting on the fence for this one. Do let me know if you need any clarifications on my thought process.

As usual, this is not a call to buy or sell securities and its just sharing my own thought process for your information. Also, crypto is dangerous AF. Please do your own due diligence prior to investing.

Endowus CPF OA Portfolio

As you may know, I’ve started investing my CPF OA funds with Endowus. I’ve been sharing my portfolio performance for readers’ reference to evaluate product performance for themselves. This month was nothing special, just my regular monthly top up of $1000. My portfolio is up 11.43% for the year..

If you want to learn more about Endowus, do check out my review (Cash/SRS portfolio details to be updated). Also, if you’re interested in opening an account, do feel free to sign up through my referral link.

Full time studies

I’ve been very busy in the past month as I took on full time studies for a change. Between projects, studying and classes, I don’t have much time for anything else.

Apologies for the lack of content as a result. Do feel free to reach out to me if you need any clarification / friendly advice though.
